Seth is a certified arborist with years of field experience across the BC Interior. He’s worked with homeowners, builders, and municipalities to navigate bylaws, protect canopy cover, and keep projects on track. Known for his approachable style and field-tested methods, Seth started The Tree Police to make arboriculture less about red tape and more about results: healthy trees, safe sites, and compliant builds.
Seth Mennie has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 2001. After
founding Monkey Tree Services Ltd., tree bylaws became an increasingly important part of urban life and responsible tree management.
Recognizing widespread uncertainty around bylaw requirements among both the public and civic decision makers, Seth committed to mastering bylaw interpretation and real-world application. That focus helped establish him as an industry leader in navigating tree bylaw compliance, development scenarios, and practical outcomes that protect both trees and project timelines.
In 2018, he launched Tree Police Services to bring added clarity, confidence, and authority to the bylaw process. The goal was simple: help clients meet individual tree needs while supporting the broader requirements of development and municipal approval.

We’re privately funded, rooted in environmental stewardship, and committed to supporting compliance in Vancouver and surrounding municipalities. Our role isn’t to punish—it’s to educate, guide, and keep projects moving while protecting the trees that make our communities livable.
From arborist reports to on-site support, we make compliance simple, practical, and defensible in Vancouver and surrounding municipalities.
